Long March 2D • CSES-1

A result of cooperation between Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) and the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI) will be mission of CSES-1 satellite. CSES stays for Chinese Seismic-Electromagnetic Satellite, and it was designed, under agreement signed on 2013, basing on Chinese CAST2000 platform.  Italian contribution in mission is High Energy Particle Detector (HEPD). In spite of HEPD on CSES-1 board will be few other instruments:  two magnetometers (search-coil magnetometer and fluxgate magnetometer), the electrical field detector (EFD), a plasma analyzer and Langmuir probe. Main objective for CSES-1 is earthquake stereoscopic monitoring, detecting possible consequences of earthquakes for ionosphere and researching possible correlation between the lithosphere and the magnetosphere. CSES-1 will be put into 98° Sun-synchronous circular orbit at 500 km. Operational life of satellite is planned for five years. CNSA planned to utilize for this mission Long March 2D rocket.
